At the end of June 2004, 54 excited, but exhausted Year 6 pupils returned from the London residential. Whilst Ilminster suffered gales, during the day London was bright and sunny thus enabling the full range of planned activities to take place. The flight on the London Eye, a Thames cruise to Greenwich, various museum visits, surveys and a visit to the Lion King were all greatly appreciated by the pupils. Many friendships were further developed; having met up with a French School at the hostel, Swanmead won our inter-school version of the European Cup, fears and phobias were overcome and learning was seen as fun.
