Curriculum - Physical Education
Swanmead Community School aims to provide a range of sporting opportunities for all students with an emphasis on promoting safe physical activity, a healthy lifestyle and developing sporting standards throughout the school.
All students experience a minimum of 120 minutes of physical education each week (16% curriculum time). During this allocation students develop skills in a range of team games (cricket, football, hockey, netball), dance, gymnastics and, athletics. There is an annual sports day and the school actively participates in the Sports Council's Super Sports programme.
Specialist teachers are fully qualified to teach across the PE curriculum and hold a variety of coaching qualifications, including football, tennis and basketball at the highest levels.
